INDEPENDENT MP for Lyne Rob Oakeshott has written to the state Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead MP, about the proposed new high voltage power transmission line from Stroud to Lansdowne.
Mr Oakeshott agrees with local community calls for more time for community consultation on proposals to meet growing electricity demand on the Mid-North Coast, and is therefore seeking support from Mr Bromhead to extend the deadline.
“Even though this planning process has been ongoing for some time, it is fair to say the community has only now become fully engaged,” Mr Oakeshott said.
“The NSW Government, through its wholly-owned power corporation Transgrid, should acknowledge this fact by allowing more time for consideration of options and submissions.
“This would be a small investment in the consultation process that can engender good faith in the process.
“I trust Mr Bromhead will be able to influence the Coalition Government, of which he is a member, to do the right thing by the community, and meet their reasonable request for a four week extension for submissions.

BARRINGTON RIVER VALLEY

SURELY THERE IS A MORE APPROPRIATE ROUTE THAN THROUGH THE SCENIC BARRINGTON RIVER VALLEY.THERE IS LITTLE IF NOT NO NEED FOR ADDITIONAL ELECTRICITY IN THIS VALLEY WHICH ADJOINS THE WORLD HERITAGE AREA, SO SEND THE POWERLINES WHERE THERE MAYBE SOME FUTURE CONSUMPTION NEARER TO THE COAST.DONT COMPOUND THE POOR PLANNING OF THE STROAD ROAD SUB.
