SENIORS URGED TO APPLY FOR PROGRAM FUNDING
Independent MP for Port Macquarie, Robert Oakeshott, is encouraging local senior's groups and Councils to apply for funding, with applications now open for grants under the "The NSW Seniors Week Grants Program" for events to be held during Senior Weeks, 6-13 April 2008.
"The NSW Seniors Week Grants Program is administered by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care, and have become a valuable contribution to the improved social networking and active living throughout the seniors community, Mr Oakeshott said.
"Mr Oakeshott identified two funding categories available for 2008, being;
* up to $500 grant - applicants may apply for any amount up to $500 and do not need to match the funding provided,
* up to $1000 grant - applicants may apply for any amount up to $1000, however this amount must be matched in cash or in-kind.
Applications close at 5pm on 21 September 2007, with all applicants informed of a decision in December. My office has copies of the application forms, so enquiries can be directed to 65-840977, Mr Oakeshott said.
"NSW Seniors Week is one of the largest events for seniors in the southern hemisphere, with more than 500 events and 250,000 seniors participating. I therefore urge anyone interested in seeking funding for their special events to consider applying, Mr Oakeshott said today.
