OLDER DRIVER SUBMISSIONS CLOSING

This coming Friday, October 19, is the last opportunity for the community to put forward submissions on the RTA's Licensing of Older Drivers Discussion Paper, Independent Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Oakeshott, said today.

"Licensing of Older Drivers is a very important issue to many of our local residents and a great number of drivers will be affected by any changes that are made to RTA policy, Mr Oakeshott said.

"There have been a number of concerns expressed over some of the restrictive options that have been put forward by the RTA that will have a particular impact on the older drivers who live in the more rural areas of our community and the possible effect this will have on their independent lifestyle.

"I therefore encourage anyone with any interest or concerns with licensing of older drivers to read the Discussion Paper and to submit their comments to the RTA by the end of this week. Anyone wishing to obtain a copy of the Discussion Paper or any further information can contact our office on 6584 0977," Mr Oakeshott said.

The Discussion Paper can be viewed at
