COMMUNITY SUCCESSFUL IN $30,000 GRANTS FOR TWO ONGOING LOCAL PROJECTS
Two on-going projects in Port Macquarie have received funding from the State Government to the amount of $30,000, Independent MP for Port Macquarie, Robert Oakeshott, said today.
"The Lake Cathie Community Hall upgrade has been successful in attracting $15,000 for its upgrade, and I hope this is well received by the local community. The community hall is a central meeting place for many local activities, and upgrading the building to meet the growth in the area is a worthwhile exercise, Mr Oakeshott said.
"Community halls are vital for a number of local community groups, and that is why state support for this project and others such as the North Shore Community Hall feasibility study which I am expecting results to emerge from shortly, is so important, said Mr Oakeshott.
"The other local project to receive funding is the on-going work to improve the walking track from Town beach to the Lighthouse. In particular, this funding has been allocated for works to improve access to and from the Lighthouse on both the northern and southern sides, Mr Oakeshott said.
"This track has the potential to be the most important tourist initiative of our time, if treated with the priority it deserves. I am hoping this continued funding from the State Government will help drive this project forward to its completion, Mr Oakeshott said today.
